This is a fantastic weekend event at Big Basin Redwood State Park in California's Santa Cruz Mountains. August 7 marks the 40th anniversary of the discovery of the first marbled murrelet nest in this very park! The weekend features murrelet talks, a predawn murrelet walk, campfire program, and other events with biologists, docents, and Steve and Stephanie Singer who have been studying murrelets since the 1970s and discovered many nests in the park. This weekend is about murrelets, owls, thrushes, jays, butterflies, and more! Click here for more information. (Note: I am unable to attend this event...but hope you can!)
